Restoration Project - Phase 1: Getting Power to the Lighthouse
Phase one will bring critically needed electrical power to the lighthouse which will provide lighting, heat and dehumidifier for the interior of the lighthouse. Moisture control is critical to stop further deterioration of the interior of the lighthouse. This phase will bring power from the Bullard’s State Park Horse Camp to the lighthouse a distance of approximately 2 miles.
Phase one of the restoration project is currently out for bid and we are waiting for approval and funding from stakeholders before the project can begin.
The full restoration project with include:
1. Installing power, water and communications which will prevent decay and mold in the interior.
2. Restore the Lantern Room. It needs to be completely removed, repaired, water sealed with new windows and railing. Add a Fourth Order Fresnel lens.
3. Replace the Entrance door and hardware.
4. Repair exterior steps and replace the handrails.
5. Repair the foundation.
6. Repair the stucco finish.
7. Repair the cracks and remove rust stains.
8. Paint the lighthouse.
